Irresistible Dispersal – Surrogate Borders
Deane Simpson will in this lecture, among other projects, present his 'Atlas of the Copenhagens', a project which looks critically at the city as a revered object of sustainability discourse (a collaboration at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, Copenhagen with the Dutch architect and graphic designer Joost Grootens).
Deane Simpson is an architect and urbanist teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, Copenhagen; and at BAS, Bergen where he is a professor. He was formerly a unit master at the AA, London; a faculty member at the ETH Zürich; and an associate partner at Diller + Scofidio, New York. He received his training from Columbia University, New York; and from the ETH Zürich where his doctorate addressed contemporary urban mutations resulting from demographic change. He publishes and lectures on his research internationally.
