Exhibition: Exploring inspiration - Inspiring Exploration, from AHO to the moon and beyond

The NASA Apollo program ingrained a fascinating tale of courage, ingenuity and determination. A decade long thrust towards the moon that inspired generations. Sending humans to space demanded fail-proof equipment, and most of it was handmade.

As makers we can appreciate a great build delivering on its promises. And the most iconic product of the Apollo era was the spacesuit — a one-manned spacecraft.

The exhibition explores two different adventures into the space program; one has made it her mission to recreate the original Apollo spacesuit down to the tiniest detail; whilst the other has plans to send his dog into orbit, dressed in an Apollo-inspired suit, with its own carry-on luggage from NASA.

Meet the makers:

Hans Gerhard Meier (aka @smogdog) is an artist, designer and teacher at AHO participating in the new wave of creative and artistic people who share ideas, processes and tips on social media, known as the Maker movement.

Frida Tørring is a designer and student at AHO and has spent the past ten years making everything from comic conventions to T-shirt companies and fantasy creature costumes.
