Written Exam Candidate Guidelines

For written exams students will be informed of how much time they have at their disposal. Students must bring a valid identification, writing utensils and permitted aids. Unauthorized material such as bags and others shall be placed at a designated spot.

Students shall turn up at the examination room at least 15 minutes before start. Examination can be carried out without additional time if the student turns up at the examination room within 30 minutes from exam start.

Students are not permitted to hand in the exam answer sheets or leave the examination room in the first 30 minutes of the examination. A student who arrives more than 30 minutes after the examination has started must immediately report to the examinations officer at the Department of Academic Services.

Students are handed out exam answer sheets that ought to be used. Exam answer sheets shall be placed separately after the examination invigilator’s instruction. Examination answer sheets must be written with a ballpoint pen since they include carbon paper. This requirement can be deviated from by the examination officer at the Department of Academic Services upon applications.

Each student is assigned with a candidate number, which shall be written on all pages of the exam answer sheets. The student shall number all exam answer sheets and note the total number of the examination answer sheets on the first page. Rough paper and unused answer sheets shall be handed in. By special circumstances when a student cannot write the answers on examination answer sheets, the examinations officer at the Department of Academic Services can give the permission to hand in the rough paper. The examinations officer will inform examiner, who will make a decision of if the rough paper can be used as the examination answers.

Students cannot communicate with each other under the examination. All inquiries must be addressed to one of the examination invigilators. A student can only leave his/her seat or the exam room accompanied by an exam invigilator.

Exam answer sheets shall be handed in to examination invigilators who will check if the candidate number is correctly noted.

Cheating or attempted cheating will immediately be reported to the examinations officer at the Department of Academic Services. Consequence of verified cheating or attempted cheating is construed by AHO as an individual case. Please refer to Supplementary Regulations in Regulations for master’s degree program at AHO, §6-18.
