International Master of Landscape Architecture / Campus Tromsø

UiT / The Arctic University of Norway is the northernmost university of the world. The university has about 10,000 students and a diverse research and study portfolio. It is located in the city of Tromsø at the edge of the Arctic, an international region of increasing global importance due to climate change, resource exploitations and environmental threats, issues which UiT explores and investigates. The landscape architecture programme at UiT takes part in these explorations.

The landscape architecture students in Tromsø have their studios at the Academy of Arts, located in the Mack building, a renovated industrial brewery in the lively city centre of Tromsø. The Mack building is well-equipped with workshops for wood, metal, paint, serigraphy, ceramics and 3D-printing. You will find the most current IT-resources including plotters and sound and video editing tools. The spacious building includes a library, a Black Box, cantina and student gallery. In the studios, all students have their own separate workspace. Studios, data labs, and workshops are open to students 24/7. Next-door neighbour is the cultural student centre Driv. Tromsø is the largest city in the Arctic Circle with 70,000 inhabitants. Its harbour is the oceanic gateway to the Polar Seas. The city of Tromsø is an urban island with a rich cultural scene surrounded by mountains and fjords, providing wild nature facilities to explore and enjoy.
