Applicants to the English programmes are not required to submit a TOEFL/IELTS test. However, in the nomination letter, AHO should assure the host institution that your English level is sufficient.

Which courses can I take?

As a Master’s student in Design you can take courses within the Aalto University Master’s programs in:
- Collaborative and Industrial Design
- Contemporary Design
- Fashion, Clothing and Textile Design
- Creative Sustainability
- International Design Business Management
The titles and content of the courses for each semester are set by the programmes and they may change from year to year.
Look into courses for the semester of your staying
Students should choose courses they are interested in, but be aware that admission to specific courses is not guaranteed.

What is the duration of the semester?

Autumn term starts in the beginning of September and ends by the end of December, before Christmas.
Spring term starts in the beginning of January and ends in late May.

Accommodation

Aalto University has an agreement with HOAS  for providing a number of furnished rooms for incoming exchange students. Unfortunately, Aalto University cannot guarantee housing for all the exchange students since the quota is limited. Exchange students can also apply for housing through Aalto's Atudent Union, AYY.

What does it cost? 

As an exchange student you pay only the AHO semester fee. 

Who can apply? 

Design students who are in their 6th or 7th semester at the time of application.

How to apply?

Apply for exchange studies through AHO by 1 February / 15 September through the application form found here
If you are nominated for exchange, AHO will send an official nomination to Aalto University. Afterwards, Aalto University will email you the application instructions and the link to the online application form, which you must fill out and submit before the application deadline.

15th March - 15th April for autumn semester and full academic year
15th September - 15th October for spring semester
