Funds for research stimulation and cooperation

Funds for research stimulation and cooperation

The strategic use of funding for research should, on rector’s suggestion, be made to be a more transparent and active part of the FU’s strategic role.

Therefore FU has been given the mandate to process the funds, where staff members, research groups and researchers across AHO can apply for funding for research projects and/or activities according to guidelines set by the FU. The first application deadline was 1 October last year and the next deadline is February 1 this year. More information and the application form can be found at AHOs website

Last year three applications was awarded funds by rector. The general feedback from FU to all applicants were the following.

We have some general comments since this is a pilot and the first-time the FU assess applications for funds for research stimulation and cooperation. The following summarizes our opinion of successful applications:
 - They should be as specific as possible, about the initiative’s timeframe, outcome and in particular regarding activities: describe how these are seen to contribute towards research stimulation and cooperation across institutes.
- The project and the outcome of the project should be comprehensible also for researchers that are not part of the research field the project is situated in.
- As the goal of this fund is to stimulate research and cooperation across the school and beyond, we would ask that the accessibility of the project, outcome or publications are clearly described and articulated.
- In addition, the budget must be realistic, clear and support the overall aim of the application.

We ask that applications submitted to the next deadline incorporate these suggestions into their applications.

Application deadline and process
- Application deadlines are 1 February and 1 October each year. Applications are to be sent to forskningsadministrasjon@aho.no by the given deadline, with all relevant documentations and budget enclosed.
- A total budget of 400 000 NOK is available for all applications per year.
- FU processes and recommends applications to rector who has decision-making authority and who makes the final call.
- All applicants whose projects are funded must send a final report to FU and rector after the project period ends.

Best regards
