The AHO Open lecture series presents: Geir Brendeland + Marje Skotheim Folde

Join us in celebrating our 75th anniversary – explore our rich history, reflect on our impact today and speculate with us about future opportunities.

We are opening up and inviting in to a series of physical and digital events this autumn 2020 and spring 2021.
We invite you to engage with us through a series of guest lectures this autumn.
To follow the government Corona guidelines, this lecture will only be digital.
The AHO Open lecture series:

04 March kl 18:00
Geir Brendeland + Marje Skotheim Folde

Marja Skotheim Folde
Assistant Professor, Institute of landscape and urbanism, AHO
Investigator at Laboratorio de Urbanismo y Ordenacion del Territorio, Granada since 2008
Municipality of Skien, since 2013
Alt.arkitektur AS, since 2018
Assistant professor in urbanism and landscape AHO, since 2020
The work I have participated in has had in common the commitment to the understanding, re-planning and transformation of the urban tissue and the territory. From my formation in the urban project in Spain to working on the everyday urban problems in Norwegian municipalities: my interest has been focused on the capacity of the architect of transforming the complexity of elements, processes, interests, the understandings and needs from different professions into form and architecture of the open space. Into meaning and sense of place.
In this lecture I would like to reflect on the work we develop together with the students of the third year on urbanism and landscape. Particularly upon the importance of the understanding of the city and their future role in restructuring its complexity with commitment to contemporary urban problems.

Lecture Geir Brendeland
Professor of Architecture at NTNU, Trondheim
Practice. Brendeland & Kristoffersen Arkitekter AS since 2003
Diploma critiques at AHO since 2020
The work of our small practice has one hand been focused on exploring the fundemental ideas of architecture and its possible roles in community.
While on the other hand rigorously exploring both technological possibilities and pursuing constructional concepts based on material. Wood, brick, steel or glass.
In this lecture I would like to go back to being a student at AHO in the years leading up to 2000 and particularly reflect upon the impact of Christian Nordberg Schultz. Discussing his teaching and writing and how it still resonates within our built work.
