Experimental Preservation round table no. 5: PRESERVATION AND PEDAGOGY

In recent years a new preservation discourse has surfaced at architecture schools all over the world, signifying a growing interest in the historical and sustainable aspects of our discipline, but more importantly: it marks a new attitude towards preservation. Academia is the appropriate place to conduct experiments, and preservation is currently undergoing critical examination, possibly resulting in new teaching methods, terminology, working techniques and modes of representation. This round table investigates how this turn will influence preservation in general and how it affects the architecture schools in particular. Rather than focusing on “what”, we want to focus on “how” pedagogy currently is conducted within different teaching environment around the world. As a beginning, we have invited representatives from a number of architecture schools in Scandinavia to share their experiences and partake in the discussion.
