Space for Flow is an interaction and service design project focused on helping individuals foster a space for team flow to address the lack of meaning resulting in unengaging work lives (Cranston & Keller, 2013.)(Gallup, 2018).

I unveiled and simplified the knowledge of flow and highlighted foundational insights used in the design phase. The deliverable is an actionable framework for team flow.It consists of several workshops and tasks to help individuals define their path and for teams to unveil their differences, stand up for their values, and create a space for flow.

The Team Framework
The concept consists of an icebreaker and three different steps intending to increase the likelihood of flow happening for teams by giving people the tools to foster conversation built on the foundational pillars of flow research. Then later, turn them into actionable tasks that the teams can act upon.

“With a little extra testing this could become a great way to boost conversations about team values and priorities. Uncover internal misalignments and problems.” - Cognite.

The Individual Framework
The individual concept intends to give people tools to help them set intrinsically rewarding goals for themselves that span longer than deadlines externally set by others.“When experience is intrinsically rewarding, life is justified in the present instead of being held hostage to a hypothetical future gain.” - Csikszentmihalyi, 1990.

“If a company helped me with this, I would feel like a human in the context of income, maybe for the first time in my career.” - Manager.

The guidelines for utilising the frameworks should preferably be available online for everyone to access them equally, which will be a future project in and of itself.
