Thinking, acting and creating in the green shift. Guest lecture with Per Espen Stoknes

The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) invites you to a guest lecture featuring Per Espen Stoknes on April 10th, 2025.

Title of lecture: Thinking, acting and creating in the green shift

Few have studied sustainability more than Per Espen Stoknes. Author of books and founder of companies, Per Espen will come to AHO to share his updated view on sustainability.

Together with faculty and students at AHO, he will reflect on the role of Architects, Landscape Architects, Urbanists and Designers - in what ways can we think, act and create to make a positive contribution? Which systems can we affect, with which interventions? Do our actions depend on whether we believe in Green Growth, Post-growth or Degrowth? How much and how fast do we need to change our creative practices? And do we also need to change within ourselves?

Per Espen Stoknes is a TED Global speaker, psychologist with a PhD in economics, and co-director of Centre for Sustainability and Energy at the BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo. Link to person web page: Per Espen Stoknes

AHO Sustainability Dialogues

The guest lecture with Per Espen Stoknes is part of AHO Sustainability Dialogues, a seminar series on shifting practices under global heating. The climate and nature challenge requires new architectural and design practices. As part of a strategic focus on sustainability, AHO hosts a series of competence building sessions. By engaging, creating shared understanding, and encouraging dialogue – the aim is to shift the way we practice at AHO to make us fit for the future. Sustainability affects how we teach our students, research, run our school, and practice our professions. The program is facilitated and hosted by a working group led by Rachel Troye.
