This project is a strategy for re-insulating older notched-log buildings, specifically in the Norwegian context, with the use of textiles in the interior. Using the farmhouse “Sanne Nordre” from 1851 as a case, it is an alternative strategy critical to the conventional use of mineral wool, which usually ends up giving problems with moisture or disfiguring the building.

Founded on extensive surveying of the Norwegian use of textiles in architecture both in the middle ages and in the nineteenth century, this project offers various ways of employing garments, made of thick woolen felt, in an interior setting. The garments are intended to be as easy to install as possible, with as good insulative qualities as possible, and therefore multiple garments are envisioned being employed simultaneously.
