Jonny Aspen has a background in cultural history and received a PhD from AHO in 2003 on the topic of Norwegian urban planning history. Most of his teaching and research is on issues of urban theory, urban cultures, urban planning history, contemporary urban development, and digital cities. His latest book was Den vitale byen (2015), co-written with John Pløger. He is currently working on a monography on the topic of urbanity.
