Groba has worked as an architect in Germany (kadawittfeldarchitektur) and in Norway (Helen & Hard) and has taught at universities in both countries (RWTH, UiS, AHO). She has lectured and been a guest critic at a number of international schools, among them Chalmers University of Technology, TU Dublin, Institute for advanced architecture of Catalonia, ZHAW, HAWK, and Aalto ARTS. She has participated in international conferences and shared her research in related publications and other journals. She currently also holds a position at NMBU and is a member of the board of Forum for Trekonstruksjoner.

Groba’s dissertation "Timber Tales" is a qualitative study that addresses how architects and residents employ, experience and value wooden building materials in housing projects, arguing that buildings that are loved last longer and thus contribute to both ecological and social sustainability.
