Thomas McQuillan is a professor of architecture teaching design and research. He graduated from Cooper Union in New York, and defended his ph.d. dissertation Edouard among the machines: A discussion of Le Corbusier's technological agenda at AHO, 2006. McQuillan was previously the head of the Institute of Architecture (2013–2020), leader of the Research Committee and member of the Space & Technique group. Awarded design projects from the Space & Technique group include the Inverted House, built at Hokkaido, Japan, as well as Xiongan Urban Facilities competition. He maintains a private practice. McQuillan researches the intersection of modernism, technology, and resourcing. Recent publications include “Athen, utelatt” (Agora 1/2018), “Currency” (on Helen &Hard, AsBuilt 2021), “Concorde”, in Extinct: A Compendium of Obsolete Objects (Reaktion Books, 2021) and “Ti dager på Cap Martin” (Agora 3/2021).
