Language of instruction: English
Applicants to the English programmes are not required to submit a TOEFL/IELTS test. However, they are expected to be proficient in English.
 

Which courses can I take?

The titles and content of the courses for each semester are set by the study programmes and they may change from year to year. Read about the design courses.

The IUA only accepts exchange students for the period of one semester. Exchange students are admitted as full-time students and are expected to complete at least 20 ECTS, within the programme they have applied for, during their exchange semester.
 

What is the duration of the semester?

Autumn semester: end of August – mid December
Spring semester: beginning of January – mid May
 

Accommodation

Student accommodation is not provided at the IUA. Most students find rooms/apartments with private landlords in the city or through rental services.

What does it cost?

As an exchange student you pay only the AHO semester fee.
 

Who can apply?

Design students who are in their 6th or 7th semester (final semester of the foundation studies or first semester on master level) at the time of application.
 

How to apply?

Apply for exchange studies through AHO by 1 February / 15 September through the application form found here
If you are nominated for exchange, apply through the online application system EASY. IUA does not accept applications through email or regular post. Please make sure to use the EASY application, and not the electronic application on the website of each study department.

The host institution application deadlines

Please note that we accept applications to Iceland University of the Arts only once a year, prior to the deadline 1 February. This is due to the early application deadline at Iceland University of the Arts for the spring semester, 15 September.
