This award emphasizes extraordinary and consistent achievements in the field of Industrial Design. The main criteria for the award are an overall assessment of the degree of innovative potential, aesthetic and functional qualities, both visually and through use. The award-winning candidate’s projects are also to be assessed on its benefits for the environment and society. The Steinar Thomassen Award is generously donated by Steinar Thomassen, a Norwegian Industrial designer who was one of the pioneers in the development of the Industrial Design discipline in Norway from the 1950’s onward.
