"Tabula Plena" out now!
The book "Tabula Plena - Forms of Urban Preservation" is out now and can be bought through AHO.
The book was launched at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale on May 26th. The book is published by Lars Müller Publishers in Switzerland springs out of the collaboration between AHO and Columbia University GSAPP partaking in the planning process for a new government quarter in Oslo after the terrorist bombing on July 22nd, 2011.

In contrast to tabula rasa urbanism, this book considers the possibilities of tabula plena — urban sites that are full of existing buildings, systems, and activities that have accumulated over time. These dense urban sites prompt designers to draw simultaneously from the fields of architecture, historic preservation, and urban planning. Growing from a collaboration between the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and Columbia University GSAPP, this compilation of essays and projects raises questions about how we practice, teach, and theorize engagement with existing architecture at the urban scale.
