An exploration of means to unify and improve the user experience for all users of Norwegian digital health care services - including for people with cognitive impairments.
From our collection of lived experiences we created a collective experience journey that highlights some of the pain points that many patients and next of kin depict: The drop from hospital to home, being lost in a jungle of services, having to cross murky waters and climbing a rocky hill of recovery.
We propose the initiation of a standardisation research project that aims to develop a national framework for UX design for health: A collection of strategies, principles and resources to improve the design processes and digital touchpoints of various digital healthcare services. Our aim is to make a case-driven system that will always stay in a push-and-pull dynamic between different users and uses.
The pilot project is aimed at one institution, Sunnaas Sykehus, as the contextual stage for piloting the standardisation project, and as a suitable starting point for understanding how to best accommodate cognitive and physical impairments. By targeting accessibility as a fi rst step towards standardising UX design processes and end products, we believe the research project will quickly deliver value and impact for many different kinds of health care users.
