This is a story about a detail in a system. This is a story about a detail and a city.
The greater Reykjavik area is taking a step away from the domination of the private car. The century of mixed transportation has arrived: bicycles, busses, scooters, even with walking, have become a thing in Iceland. The weather in Reykjavik —” the four seasons of autumn,”— is used as a common excuse to give importance to the private car. In reality, both the problem and the solution are manmade. The problem is the scale of the city, density. The solution is in a simple detail that can be easily mass produced and used to create a myriad of bus stops and stations centring a transportation system that works.
